The Phoenix AYF All-Star team is made up of 8th Graders regardless of division that are age 14 in 8th grade (and under) cannot turn 15 on or before 12/31/2013. The All-Star bracket has been established for the American Youth Football National Championship tournament to be held in Orlando, Florida from December 7-14, 2013. This is a great opportunity for you to play with the top 8th graders in the Phoenix Metro Area and to compete against the Top 8th Graders across the United States. Not only is this an honor but it is also a privilege.
The All-Star Tryouts and High School Readiness Program will be a great experience towards your development and enhancing your football and academic skills with your peers. There are a limited amount of spots available for the final roster and some tough decisions will be made, however, the 4 Practices sessions, that include a Combine, Practices, NFL and College Coaches, Guest Speakers, Academic and Eligibility Discussions, College Recruiting and Standardized Test discussions, and more, will provide value to all participants. The PHX All-Star Coaching Staff will evaluate players at the combine and 3 practices, and use 2013 season evaluations in selecting the final team. The All Star Tryouts and High School Readiness Program cost $50, includes all mentioned, as well as a Phoenix AYF All Star T-Shirt.
The Phoenix AYF Conference All-Star team will be competing in the 8th Grade Unlimited Weight Division. The Time commitment is huge and demanding as the staff will have about 3 weeks to get this team ready to compete. Players will be chosen based on their ability to meet this time commitment of and showing up on time to practices, media events, meetings, and fundraising from early November in Phoenix Metro through the AYF National Championships in Orlando, Florida (December 7 to 14th). One thing to learn now as you move onto High School, everything that you do is being evaluated: Attitude, Character, Work Ethic, Being Coachable, Being a Team Player, Communication, and Academics to name a few.
The cost of being on the team and all fees to get to Orlando and participate as a Phoenix AYF All Star at the AYF National Championships is the sole responsibility of each participant. Fundraising opportunities will be available as the Final team, coaches, staff, and players will come together to raise funds. Once a player is selected, they must provide proof of Airline Ticket purchase and a $350 Commitment Fee to secure their roster spot. Alternates will be selected as well.
